Raising Rabbits
Here at Forest House Homestead we have a small colony of Rex Rabbits. The Rex is known for its ultra velvety coat and wonderful temperment. They are a mid sized meat rabbit and their furs make for delightlfully warm mittens, slippers, and blankets.
We keep our rabbits on pasture in mobile rabbitats allowing them safety and shelter while providing fresh grass daliy.
We give fresh water, hay, and a balanced rabbit feed to ensure we are raising healthy animals, not lacking nutrients where our grass and soil may be deficient.
Our mommas get extra attention and are given plenty of time to recover between litters. Health and quality of life are our top priorities.
Processing
After several weeks on fresh grass we dispatch our rabbits with as much respect as possible. In keeping with the homesteader's mindset, we keep and ustilise as much of each and every rabbit.
