We're living, learning, and loving right where we are.

Land Stuardship

We believe in being responsible stuards of the land we have. We put that into practice by persuing regenerative practices that improve soil and water quality the longer we are here. On this property that looks like managing invasive species, no-till gardening, multi-species rotational grazing, and more. We're always learing and working toward improving our land use and productivity.

The first thing we really focus on is the responsible removal of invasive species. We do not use any chemicals. We physically cut them and pull them up by the roots when possible. What we can't get ourselves is taken care of by the goats.

We then go through and assess the health of the remainig trees and selectively cut or protect depending on species and proximity to other trees.

Finally, we come through with seed and feed for the livestock and sow into the future with the goal of lush silvopasture for our herds to enjoy. If its an area that isn't suited to pasture then we are aiming to establish native groundcover to help prevent erosion on our steeper grades.

Current Projects

Currently, our main focus is in reducing the invasive species and increasing grazable land along our forest borders in the form of silvopasture. We are also continuing to expand the future gardenable area by putting down layers to build rich, healthy soil that will be ready for planting come the following year. These things all take time and patience but with consistent work we expect to see abundance and diversity increase with each year.
